The elevation data search tool now includes the USGS NED data sets in 2, 1 and 1/3 arc second resolution. Also included now is the SRTM 1 arc second data which has only been published for the US.  Note the 1 arc second coverage also includes Mexico as well as parts of Canada based on the respective national data sets.
